Mapping Out the Future of Progression 2.0 in PATH OF EXILE

We’re glad to see you back!

All information is Work In Progress. Images and text may drastically change before being released. With 0 just around the corner, we thought now was a great time to reveal how this update would be released.

Progression 2 will be released in this way so that players can experience the new Equipment and leveling system sooner instead of waiting six months. We’re releasing Progression 2.

Although we know there is still some time before the release of the new version, we are working to make it happen as quickly as we can. We also have more exciting news in the coming weeks. . .

The first part will be all new Equipment Tiers. (This brings our current equipment from twenty up to sixty!) As you can see, the first update includes all of the new equipment tiers. This will increase our total amount from twenty up to sixty pieces!

It will also reward the players who level up, and not just increase their number.

Once Part One is released, we’ll be moving swiftly on to reworking our Photo Rewards system, adding new Tasks, Optional Objectives, and adding new ways to earn money in each contract; Video and Sound evidence*.

The third and final part of Progression 2 is the latest version. In addition, the third and final part of Progressio 2.0 includes the much-anticipated new character models with customization, replacing the animations for players, along with a total overhaul of the camera system on the truck. This will allow you to more easily navigate the location cameras, placed cameras, etc.

*more information on that to come in a later Development PreviewWhile evaluating our Evidence Types to see what we could improve, we found that ‘Freezing Temperatures’ was another Evidence that needed a glow-up.

The game ‘Freezing Temperatures,’ however, had its own issues. Temperatures were not synced between games and different players saw Cold Breath in different moments.

The Thermometer was redundant, except in very specific situations. Finding freezing temperatures was passive. There was nothing to do but notice a particle.

The effect is the same as that of our glowing green friend.

Cold Breath was not a very useful feature in the context of this game. To fix that, Cold Breath will appear when temperatures are below 5-7°C.

Cold Breath makes more sense and increases immersion in all contracts.

If it snows and you turn on the fusebox, Cold Breath will be everywhere. Even in your truck!

Cold Breath only appears in those rooms which have experienced a temperature drop.

What are the best ways to find evidence of ‘freezing temperatures’? The Thermometer can help.

Firstly, Thermometers are now Starter Equipment. This means that you will receive one free with every contract.

Second, take your thermometer into the room where you have found Cold Breath and see if it is below zero degrees Celsius.

Thirdly, the room temperature is now synchronized across all players. No longer will one person see Cold Breath first, while you get more consistent Thermometer readings.
